It is a clear breach of Britain's international obligations on global warming to pair towns for hospital services.
Therefore, hospital trusts do not have the authority to make such decisions. They are a matter of public policy.
My GP, Dr Young, is an outspoken opponent of the trust's proposals for Eastbourne and Hastings's hospitals. As we marched in protest along Hastings seafront, he detailed to me the thousands of ambulance journeys which would be diverted from Hastings to Eastbourne for A&E alone.
It is equally a clear breach of the Kyoto Treaty to require Haywards Heath families to go to the already traffic-jammed streets of Brighton.
I listened on Hastings seafront to our MP, Michael Foster, saying he had an appointment with Tony Blair to discuss these proposals.
I am confident he will argue with the utmost vigour that pairing towns for health or any other purposes is a breach of International Law which requires journeys to be discouraged.
The march was started by the Conservative Mayor, backed vociferously by our Labour MP and joined at a sharp pace by the previous mayor, 80-year-old Lib-Dem Pam Brown.
Our elected representatives have spoken unanimously. Surely that should be the end of the matter.
