I was born and bred in Brighton but, for the past few years, I have been out of the country.
On returning, I have been shocked by three things.
First, all the great work - the new library and museum, the new kneeling buses, the regeneration of St James's Street, the strengthening of the undercliff walk and even the cheeky little tuk-tuks.
Second, the amazing plans afoot - the i360, the designs for the marina and Black Rock, the proposals for the King Alfred and a new home for the Albion at Falmer. So much to celebrate, champion and be thankful for.
Third, the attitudes expressed on this letters page, day in and day out - negativity, Nimbyism and lack of ambition. Legitimate objections to plans for our city are fine but I object strongly to those who seek perverse pleasure or short-term political gain from obstructing progress.
