My thanks go out to the thousands of wonderful Worthing residents who turned out to send another message to the Primary Care Trust and Candy Morris, Chief Executive of South East Coast Strategic Health Authority, that they will defend their medical services to the very end.
We managed three major demonstrations on the same day and at the same time by surrounding our hospitals (Worthing and Southlands) and spelling out "KWASH"
with human bodies in Homefield Park.
A wonderful achievement, it was a credit to all taking part, especially the organisers. To complete one of these in the face of the logistical problems would have been a success but to complete all three was just short of miraculous.
Together we will win.
We will continue to tell the PCT it has a fight on its hands if it contemplates closing or even reducing our medical facilities.
The residents of Worthing and Adur were magnificent.
- Tom Wye, Mayor of Worthing
