As a resident of Brighton and Hove, whose council had the courage of their convictions and held a democratic referendum on Falmer stadium, I hold completely different views from those of Sylvia Carr and Eric Huxham (Letters, October 10).

The Albion would have been foolish not to consider incorporating other facilities, beside the stadium, in any feasibility studies of sites.

Those who have any knowledge of new stadia will know Reading has incorporated a hotel in its scheme and Crystal Palace incorporated a Sainbury's supermarket a long time ago. Many other clubs have not had to do so.

If the Albion had thought they needed such add-ons, they would have pursued other sites, except for one great problem: taking into account road and rail links, they were not suitable.

The Albion, Brighton and Hove City Council and the Government are aware of this but not, it would seem, a few people in Falmer village or Lewes District Council Lib-Dems.

Albion have taken the only viable option - to build on the city-owned site at Falmer in collaboration with the universities.
