I am writing in response to David Broughton (Letters, October 7). He says rottweilers are all vicious guard dogs.

The photo (left) is of our sevenyear- old rottweiler, Daisy.

She is a family pet and is the softest, soppiest creature on the planet. She would not hurt a fly, especially children, who she absolutely adores.

I would suggest Mr Broughton is, in his own words, an ignoramus if he thinks the dogs are to blame rather than their irresponsible owners, who fail to bring up and train their animals correctly.

Russell Suthern North Road, Portslade THE letters about rottweilers have made me quite angry.

I have owned several and they have been fine with children and my grandchildren.

The problem is with breeding and how you handle your dog.

My dog now is muzzled at all times when out in public so nothing comes back on me or my dog. I have been sworn and shouted at, and people have crossed the road to avoid my dogs, but that is their problem, not mine.

Rottweilers are loving and loyal dogs.
