I had a dream. I dreamt that after a successful London 2012 Olympics Brighton and Hove’s Green Party appointed a councillor for sports and recreation with a remit for turning this city into a sports haven.
They could start with a modernised Withdean Stadium , develop the King Alfred into a new leisure centre with a 50-metre competition pool, turn Black Rock into an international ice venue and build a cycling stadium at Preston Park, sending out the message that this is a city for cycling.
The money to start this process is to come from the same pot the Green Council is giving to private individuals.
Well, I did say it was a dream.
