A robbery gang attacked a supermarket shop assistant in Peacehaven before getting away with cash.
Three men carried out the raid at Sainsbury’s in South Coast Road, Peacehaven, on Wednesday night.
A statement from Sussex Police said: “Two men approached the tills in the supermarket, while it was still open, while a third remained at the main door as a look out.
“One of the suspects assaulted one member of staff before they broke into the till taking a large amount of cash.
“Police are appealing to anyone who might have seen the men leaving in the direction of Saltdean.”
One man was white, 6ft, in his 20s, slim, with short ginger hair. He wore a blue and black jacket and covered half his face with a scarf.
The second man was white, slim, in his 20s, wearing a grey hooded top.
The third man wore a black coat and black trousers.
Police have not revealed how much money was taken.
Anyone with information is asked to call Sussex Police on 101, quoting serial 1819 of September 15.
