On the lighter side, Jerry Pert, there’s nothing the English like better than having a good moan or whinge (Letters, September 13).
There are so many things we can absolutely do nothing about in this life and sometimes it makes us feel better.
It costs nothing and so far the Government has not taxed us on it.
To be serious, no one in their right minds expects the grass verges to look like bowling greens, just cut (by the experts) and tidied up so people who already have breathing difficulties don’t have to suffer from pollen and weed seeds.
I wonder if it would be possible for those doing community service to be channelled into that job?
