Have you noticed the variety of complaint letters to The Argus which end along the lines of “...and I can’t wait to vote out this Green administration so we can start sorting out these problems”?
In 11 years of living in Brighton and Hove, almost all the problems we are experiencing now – the same problems – have arisen under previous Labour and Conservative administrations.
One example is the way traders blamed parking charges on poor summer takings just as November-like winds and rain lashed down outside for weeks on end.
Perhaps the weather was the Greens’ fault too?
More recently, the gridlock of getting out of Brighton on a Sunday was blamed on the Greens – presumably the same Greens responsible for stopping the same traffic coming into the city in the first place. It must have sneaked in unnoticed.
I don’t vote Green, but I recognise nonsense when I read it alongside possibly a concerted effort by one or both of the main opposition parties to blame pretty much everything on the current incarnation of Brighton and Hove City Council.
Over the next few weeks, the leaves will start to fall from the trees and the nights will start drawing in.
Just in case anyone is tempted to complain, it is not the fault of the Greens. But I expect some people will have a go.
