In reply to P Willenden’s letter to the editor regarding the old days (The Argus, September 7), how I echo his words.
We didn’t hear of child abduction, cruelty to man and beast, burglaries and rife crime.
I was taught right from wrong, good manners and was disciplined. That’s all gone out of the window now, it seems.
We didn’t have much money, but made our own fun and enjoyed the countryside. We didn’t crave the material wealth so many cannot seem to live without now.
I have been accused of “living in the past” and told to “stop going on about the good old days”, but they were truly just that.
I would dearly love to be able to recapture those happy carefree childhood days.
