Teachers have opposed the Government's plans of “education on the cheap”.
Concerns have been raised at proposals for unqualified teachers to be hired by academies.
The executive committee of the West Sussex Teachers' Association, which represents nearly 4,500 teachers, has passed a resolution to urge parents, head teachers, governors and councillors to resist the plans by Education Secretary Michael Gove.
It said: “The government claim that this will enable schools to bring in 'brilliant people' instead of teachers to teach our children.
“Brilliant people are already invited to visit schools to talk to children and to answer questions.
“We reject this argument as false. Our children deserve better.”
