Police hunting the man believed to have murdered a pensioner will feature the case on Crimewatch in a bid to trace him.

Officers are no closer to tracking down escaped convict Ricardo Pisano, thought to be in his 30s, who is suspected to have killed Michael Polding.

The body of Mr Polding, 62, was found at his flat in St George’s Road, Kemp Town, Brighton, on July 16.

Police attended the flat afterMr Polding’s family raised concerns about his whereabouts.

On July 21 police announced they were launching a murder inquiry.

MrPolding,whowas openly gay, had been in a relationship with Pisano who pretended to neighbourshewas the olderman’s carer.

Pisano, who also goes by the aliases Ree, Brandon Victor Pillay and Ricky, escaped from a New Zealand jail ten years ago where he was serving sentences for extortion and fraud.

He was known to adopt different accents andhad previously been dubbed “the A r t f u l Dodger” by theSouthAfricanpress –he is originally from the African country.

Yesterday Sussex Police also confirmed they had stood down from bail a 28-year-old North London man arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with Mr Polding’s death. No further action will be taken against him.

A Sussex Police statement said: “Next week the case will feature on BBC TV’s Crimewatch programme in a bid to trace Ricardo Pisano who has links to Brighton, Croydon, Crouch End in north London, and Southampton where he was last seen on July 28.

“He is originally from South Africa, has also lived in New Zealand and speaks with a South African accent, although he may change this.”
