WELLBEING services have been recognised with two top awards.

Arun Wellbeing won the Customer Care Award at the Arun Business Partnership Awards.

The Family Wellbeing service received the Witness BTN Community Impact Award at the Active Sussex Annual Sports Awards.

West Sussex Wellbeing is a partnership between each district and borough council and West Sussex County Council.

It works with members of the public and organisations, providing a range of programmes to help people lead a healthier lifestyle and reduce their risk of developing cardiovascular disease, diabetes type 2, stroke and preventable cancers.

Initiatives available through Arun Wellbeing include individual support for residents, WISE (Weight Information Sensible Eating – a weight management course), pre-diabetes courses, Wellbeing in the Workplace and in the Home, Cook and Eat, the Family Wellbeing programme and beginners’ fitness and falls prevention courses.

The Family Wellbeing programme is offered by both Arun Wellbeing and Chichester Wellbeing, working with families to promote a healthy lifestyle and good nutrition.

Caroline Daplyn, founder of START Wellbeing, which delivers the programme, said: “The best part is seeing the difference in families who have completed the programme.

“They have increased confidence and it’s great to see how much happier and healthier they have become.”

Mike Clayden, Cabinet Member for community wellbeing at Arun District Council, said: “Arun Wellbeing and the Family Wellbeing programme are thrilled to be recognised with the awards.

“The services work hard to help people lead a healthier lifestyle with many success stories in the local area, and these awards were highly deserved.”

Councillor Eileen Lintill, Cabinet Member for community services at Chichester District Council. said: “I’m delighted the service has won this award as this is a great scheme.”
