AN Elderly man is fighting for his life after being knocked down by a car.
The 88-year-old pedestrian is being treated for a serious head injury at the Royal Sussex County Hospital where he was taken yesterday afternoon.
A car collided with the man in New Church Road on Friday afternoon, near to the junction with Langdale Road and Richardson Road.
The pensioner was rushed to hospital as six police vehicles were call to the scene on the busy rush hour route.
Police were alerted by South East Coast Ambulance Service at 4.39pm.
It is not though any of the people in the car were hurt.
The road was closed after the crash, before being partially reopened by police.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward, quoting 865 of 12/01.
