WORTHING broadcaster and fishing fanatic Jimmy Willis will compete in this year’s European Open Beach Championships, after only fishing his first competition last month.
He said: “I fished my first competition a few weeks ago over in Eastbourne for an article I was writing.
“I got a bad draw but still scored 21 points and finished ahead of some very experienced guys.
“A lot of people think I’m mad to go and compete in the European Open Beach Championships for my second match, but I feel I’m in with a good chance, and you have to be in it to win it.”
2018 will be the 25th anniversary of The Paul Roggeman European Open Beach Championships. It is the largest beach fishing competition in Europe.
