A MAN has died after falling from a block of flats in Western Street, Hove.

Sussex Police confirmed his death on Tuesday, at 10.20pm.

In a statement they said: "At 5.46pm police and paramedics responded to a report of a man having fallen from his flat to the garden below.

"Despite the best efforts from emergency services the man died at the scene.

"This is now a matter for the coroner's office. However it is not being treated as suspicious."

A passerby, who did not wish to be named, said: “I think the incident is in one of the properties opposite Embassy Court, but I could be wrong.”

"It looked like there were a lot of police standing over the entrance to one of the flats on the right as you look up the road."

A bystander who asked not to be named said: “It appeared to be a serious incident with so many of the emergency services at the scene.

“The road had been closed off and people were asking what was going on, but nobody really seemed to know.

“It was shocking to see so many police officers at the scene.”

Ambulances left the scene by 8.10pm, but police were still there.

Sussex Police said there were no further details about the man's identity at this time.
