A POLICE officer attacked while arresting a drunk will be given £200 compensation by a drunk
Sussex Police Constable Wainright stopped drunk and disorderly Viorel Matea , 38, in the Broadway, Crawley on December 10. But Matea lashed out attacking the officer.
Matea admitted assaulting the officer and being drunk and disorderly when he appeared at Crawley Magistrates' Court on December 29.
Matea also admitted breaching a conditional discharge he had been given after beating up John Barraclough at the Octopus bar in Crawley Hight Street in March.
Magistrates told Matea, of Taylor Street, Tunbridge Wells, he would be fined £295 for the assault and would have to pay PC Wainright £200 in compensation.
He was also resentenced to further fine of £196 for the bar attack.
Including court fees he will have to pay a total of £706.
