STAFF and students at Brighton and Hove High School celebrated their book week with a joyous celebration of all things literary and poetic.
Pupils were joined by scriptwriter and author Irena Brignull who opened the week with a talk about how to get into writing as a career and why you should never stop reading and writing.
On Tuesday, Year 9 were on their feet working through the brutal and manipulative relationship between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth with the Shakespeare in Italy Theatre Company.
There was also a book auction in aid of Afghan Connection, topping the previous year’s total and raising over £90 in just 30 minutes.
Thursday’s inter-house book quiz was highly competitive and on Friday staff and girls dressed as characters from their favourite books.
The celebration was also used to raise hundreds of pounds for the important work of Afghan Connection, supporting education in the country where girls in particular are often without any access to schools.
