TWO women who dedicate their time to helping others lose weight were congratulated on their work by singer and TV presenter Peter Andre.

The Australian star was guest of honour at the recent annual Slimming World Awards.

Consultants Lis Telcs and Mandy Crew, who are both from Brighton were delighted to get a chance to meet him.

Ms Telcs, who runs a group at Our Lady Of Lourdes Primary School in Brighton every Wednesday, said Peter’s presence at the awards was extra special.

In 2017 the singer, whose biggest hit was Mysterious Girl, supported the organisation’s most successful fundraising event ever – the Big Slimming World Clothes Throw.

The event, which this year raised £3.3m, encourages group members to donate the clothes, shoes, bags and accessories that are now too big for them to Cancer Research UK.

Ms Telcs said: “I couldn’t be prouder of my members.

“Throughout 2017 they lost fantastic amounts of weight, with many of them hitting their target weights, improving their health and boosting their confidence.

“It’s so rewarding to see people being able to do things they didn’t think were possible before losing weight.

“That can be having more energy, feeling happier, wearing smaller clothes, taking up new hobbies, reducing medication or doing more with their family and friends.

“Cuddling up to Peter was a real treat.

“He was bowled over by the difference Slimming World makes to people’s lives and it reminded me what an important and privileged role I have as a consultant.”

Ms Crew runs a group at the Fountain Centre in Brighton every Thursday.

She said: “Lots of people will be making resolutions to lose weight and improve their health this New Year.

“I truly believe joining a group is the best way for people to lose weight, learn new habits and improve their lifestyle.

Thanks to our eating plan they will see big results on the scales without ever having to feel hungry or deprived, and they’ll discover a whole world of support and advice that’s sure to help them achieve their targets.”
