A woman is preparing to take part in her 150th marathon this weekend - and will celebrate by running another half marathon.

Kate Knight, 64, is set to complete the milestone tomorrow, competing in the Beachy Head Marathon near Eastbourne.

She will later mark her achievement by running the half marathon the following day.

Tomorrow's event also marks the 100th marathon she has run since having a knee replacement and spinal surgery.

Celebrating the “fantastic milestone” Kate said: “Before going in for the knee replacement, the consultant said I wouldn’t do another marathon post op and it’s now my 100th.

“I feel so proud to have achieved this and my plan is to keep going, aiming to get to at least 300 marathons on my new knee in a few years.

“Beachy Head Marathon is one of my favourites because of the scenery, the atmosphere and encouragement and I’d like to say a huge warm thanks to the race crew and team for all the encouragement and support.”

Kate, from Reigate, will be running the two events to raise money for the Sussex and Surrey NHS Trust charity.
