Stock car racing is set to return to Arlington Stadium after promoters agreed a deal to lease the venue less than a month after announcing the end of racing there.
Spedeworth Motorsports manager Gavin Botfield said negotiations had resulted in an agreement to continue operating from the Hailsham stadium, with racing now expected to resume by the end of October.
The development comes after Spedeworth announced on August 6 that racing at Arlington Stadium had ended with immediate effect after being told the venue's owners no longer wished to host its oval racing events.
Mr Botfield told The Argus: "Negotiations took place with the Spedeworth owners and we agreed to lease it.
"We are looking to get it back open for the end of October."
He said work is now under way behind the scenes to ensure the venue is ready to welcome competitors and spectators back.
Health and safety checks are currently being carried out, while repairs and refurbishment work will also be needed before racing can resume.
Mr Botfield added: "We can't wait to get back there to be honest."
The news has been welcomed by supporters, with a fundraising campaign launched to help pay for work required at the stadium.
The GoFundMe page was set up by former Spedeworth employee Nick Hughes, with the agreement of Spedeworth owners Deane and Janet Wood.
The fundraiser says money is being raised to support a range of improvement works, including new floodlighting poles, catch fencing, repairs to the home straight grandstand, back straight seating and toilet facilities.
Its initial target has been set at £50,000, although organisers say a significantly larger sum will ultimately be needed to bring the venue up to the required standard.
On the fundraising page, Mr Hughes said: "Further to the great news that Spedeworth have agreed a deal to resume racing at Arlington Stadium, the hard work now starts in getting the required significant repair and refurbishment works carried out to enable the reopening.
"I am raising funds with the agreement of Deane and Janet Wood to help get these works done as soon as possible, so that everyone can get back to enjoying their racing from whichever side of the fence they choose!"
He added that a significantly larger sum than the fundraiser's £50,000 target would be needed to get the stadium up to the required standard, "but the generosity of the racing community will go a long way towards making this happen."
At the time of writing, £8,971 has already been raised.

Spedeworth Motorsports had organised events at Arlington for more than 60 years before the shock announcement in August.
At the time, Mr Botfield said he was "devastated" by the prospect of losing the venue, describing Arlington as a much-loved part of the sport's history.
Now, supporters are hoping the planned repairs will help secure the future of one of Britain's best-known short oval racing venues and allow racing to return before the end of the year.
