Snapchat is a very popular app among younger people, and it has recently rolled out a new feature called Snapchat Friend Solar System.

This feature is only available if you are on its paid subscription service Snapchat Plus, which often adds new bits and pieces to the app.

Among these previous changes, it includes being able to see who rewatched your story and marking specific friends as BFFs.

With the latest new feature in the Snapchat Friend Solar System here's an explanation of how it works.

Snapchat Friend Solar System explained

The way the Snapchat Friend Solar System works is that you are considered to be 'the Sun' of your Friend Solar System on Snapchat.

The Sun has eight planets revolving around it which are all at various distances away.

Every planet in the Snapchat Friend Solar System corresponds to a different position on your list of Best Friends.

For example, Mercury is assigned to the friend you share the most snaps with, as it is the closest to the Sun.

Venus is the second closest friend with this going all the way out to Neptune (your eighth best friend on the app).

How to view the Snapchat Friend Solar System

You'll need to be subscribed to Snapchat Plus for this, and once you are you will see a ‘Best Friends’ or ‘Friends’ badge with a gold outline when you open a friend’s profile, Beebom reports.

They add: "The Best Friends badge means you both are in each other’s top eight best friends.

"Whereas the Friends badge means that you are in their top eight best friends list, but they are not in yours."

Tapping on either of the badges will reveal the friendship position on Snapchat Friend Solar System.
