A road has been closed after flooding left it impassable.
Barcombe Mills Road, near Lewes, is closed after heavy rainfall flooded the nearby River Ouse.
East Sussex Highways said the road is closed between the A26 and the village of Barcombe.
This comes after a spate of flooding incidents across the county, including in Hastings, where an eel was spotted swimming in the floodwater near a shopping centre yesterday.
In East Lavant, near Chichester, the river overflowed. This led to flooding of nearby farmland close to residential areas.
The Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for the Upper Ouse area, north of Lewes. A spokesman said: "Flooding is possible in this area. Monitor local water levels and weather conditions. Avoid using low lying footpaths or entering areas prone to flooding.
"Start acting on your flood plan if you have one."
Residents are advised to prepare a bag that includes medicines and insurance documents.
