Albion's injured goalkeeper Wayne Henderson has accused Bradford City stewards of overreacting after ejecting him for celebrating Dean Bowditch's last-minute winner.

The sidelined Republic of Ireland international jumped on a wall to watch Bowditch's dramatic clincher in Saturday's 3-2 triumph at Valley Parade.

A steward took exception when Henderson jumped back off to celebrate and he was marched out of the ground and not allowed back in.

Henderson's view close to the Albion fans near the Bradford goal was obscured by the disabled area as the Seagulls mounted their decisive counter-attack.

"I stood on the wall, then stepped back off it and started celebrating when Dean scored," he said.

"I didn't go onto the pitch but a steward grabbed me. I told him to calm down but he was joined by two more and I was marched outside.

"It was completely over the top. I told them I was one of the players but I think they were a little bit annoyed!"

Boss Dean Wilkins saw the funny side of the incident. "Wayne had the disappointment of not being fit but he was still right there in the thick of it," he said.

Henderson, replaced in goal by Michel Kuipers, faces a race to be fit for Saturday's FA Cup tie at home to Northwich Victoria after missing the match with an injured left thigh.

Ipswich have refused Albion permission to play Bowditch against the Conference club. Fellow loan signing Andrew Whing had already been Cup-tied by Coventry.
