Albion fear Craig Mackail-Smith could be ruled out for the rest of the season.
The striker went off just before half-time of tonight's goalless draw with Bristol City with what is believed to be a ruptured Achilles.
Mackail-Smith, preferred in the starting line-up to a jaded Leo Ulloa, lost his footing as he turned past an opponent.
Manager Gus Poyet said: "It could be a serious Achilles injury. I think he could be three months so this season is probably over. The doctor knows and he is 99.9% sure he is out for the rest of the season."
