Eastbourne have stepped up their hunt for a possible new signing amid continuing concern over the future of Adam Shields.

But experienced Polish racer Tomasz Jedrzejak will not be returning to Arlington.

Jedrzejak has reluctantly turned down an offer from Eagles due to his already full racing diary.

It would have been his second stint with the club, having been quietly consistent in 2010 after replacing injured compatriot Dawid Lampart in mid-season.

Shields' fitness is causing Eagles some worries and they have also warned under-pressure Timo Lahti and Simon Gustafsson have not totally staved off the threat of the axe, despite improved showings against Coventry.

Team manager and co-promoter Trevor Geer said Eastbourne have not ruled out a change to their line-up.

He added: “Our team performance at Birmingham (last Wednesday) was unacceptable and the result was poor for the club.

"There was more fight at Coventry on Friday and at home on Saturday but we are determined to improve the team.

“We have already contacted a number of riders, including Tomasz Jedrzejak."
