Crawley boss Richie Barker hopes there will be no more departures from Broadfield Stadium this summer.

Four of last season’s squad which finished tenth in League One have left the club since the end of the campaign.

Matt Sparrow and Mustapha Dumbuya turned down new contracts at the end of last season while Lateef Elford-Alliyu was not offered a new deal.

David Hunt left to sign a two-year deal at Oxford United last week despite Barker insisting he did not want the right-back to go.

Sergio Torres found himself on the fringes of the first team along with Hunt last season and hinted he may be forced to move to find regular football while there are also question marks over Gary Alexander’s future after he spent the end of last season on loan at AFC Wimbledon.

Paul Jones, Joe Walsh and Mark Connolly have also been linked with moves away after impressive first year’s at Crawley.

Barker said: “I didn’t want anyone to leave. I wanted to keep hold of David but I understood why he wanted to take a two-year deal somewhere else.

“I’ve had a conversation with Gary’s agent and from what he said I expect Gary to be back with us for pre-season training and to fight for a place.

“We did well last year so I’m keen to keep that group of players together if it is possible.

“That may be taken out of our hands if a club comes in for somebody but at the moment that hasn’t happened.

“Whether that remains the case I don’t know.

“I won’t believe that until the transfer window closes on September 2.”
