Former England left-back Nicky Shorey has started a week's trial with managerless Albion.
Shorey, a free agent after he was released by Reading, reported with the rest of the squad for the start of pre-season training at The Amex today.
The Seagulls need a left-back. They had Wayne Bridge on loan from Manchester City last season but he has signed for Reading and his understudy Marcos Painter has been released.
Shorey, 32, was a regular for relegated Reading in the Premier League for the first half of last season.
