Dean Wilkins reckons his Albion side are getting the tactical message.

But he admitted he will be delighted if does not have to demand too much flexibility from them for the rest of the season The Seagulls, who have switched freely between 4-4-2 and 4-3-3 this season, take on a Carlisle side operating a 4-3-3 formation this afternoon.

There could be quite a tactical battle going on at the Withdean dugouts, especially if Carlisle get the upper hand. Wilkins likes his players to be flexible and he reckons they have got to grips with his tactical demands.

The Albion boss is unwilling to reveal how he will counter Carlisle but said: "We have shown we are capable of changing formations.

"It's a situation I was hoping we would get to where we could change our shape during the game and the shape we change to has an impact on the game. You're not going to change things if it is going well.

"It's generally because you have not got the grip on the game you would like in the first place."

Wilkins has warned his team not to be overly wary of Carlisle's poor away record, which has seen them pick up just seven points and six goals in 12 League One trips.

He said: "We were in the same position when we went to Scunthorpe, who were flying high, and we turned things around.

"We certainly have to be wary about it but there is no reason for us not to have confidence going into the game."
