Crawley defender Paul Connolly has been charged with violent conduct by the Football Association.
The 30-year-old faces a ban after an altercation with a Brentford fan during Tuesday night's 1-0 defeat at Griffin Park.
Connolly appeared to raise his arm towards a supporter after the ball was thrown at him from the stands as he went to retrieve it. The incident was not seen by the match officials but was caught on camera.
An FA statement read: ''The FA has submitted that the standard punishment of a three-match suspension would be clearly insufficient given the nature of the offence.''
