Albion striker Alex Revell was today ruled out for six to eight weeks after damaging ankle ligaments in training.

Seagulls physio Malcolm Stuart said: "We had a scan today after a training accident yesterday. It confirmed our worst fears. He has damaged two of his three lateral ligaments in the ankle.

"He will see a specialist on Monday to see how we can progress. We would estimated he would be out for between six to eight weeks. It could be longer as we don't know from experience how his body will respond to treatment."

Manager Dean Wilkins said: "It is a big blow. Alex is devastated."

Revell has scored ten goals in his first season with Albion.
