Peterborough’s chairman has told fans he is taking Craig Mackail-Smith back to London Road.
Darragh MacAnthony used his Twitter account to report that the striker would return to Posh for much-needed game time.
A deal is likely to be announced tomorrow ahead of the closure of the loan window at 5pm.
MacAnthony wants Mackail-Smith to revive a successful strike pairing he enjoyed with Aaron Mclean before moving to the Amex in 2011.
The Posh chief tweeted ahead of an evening at the cinema: “Oh before I go into the movie, forgot to say that I've put the MACATTACK back together & done deal with Brighton for CMS to get games!”
As per club policy, Albion are not making any comment but Peterborough have confirmed the tweet was serious.

Mackail-Smith has been on the bench for the Seagulls recently and has been pushed down the pecking order by today’s arrival of Darren Bent.
A return to Peterborough's home ground, now known as the ABAX Stadium, will be hugely popular with fans at the League One club.
Posh take on leaders Bristol City - who today released Adam El-Abd to Bury on loan - on Friday.
