Crawley interim boss Dean Saunders will try to sign two new goalkeepers this week.

Saunders needs to bring in one keeper ahead of tomorrow’s Sussex Senior Cup quarter-final at Whitehawk after Brian Jensen dislocated a thumb on Saturday.

Jensen revealed today that he hopes to be back in training at the end of the week but Saunders is determined to avoid a repeat of the situation he found himself in during the 2-2 draw with MK Dons.

Crawley do not have a back-up keeper following the departures of Jamie Ashdown and Lewis Price before Christmas so striker Matt Harrold had to take over between the posts after Jensen had injured himself in a collision with Scott Carruthers.

Saunders, who takes the team to Rochdale on Saturday, said: “I find it unbelievable there is only one goalkeeper at the club. I have been trying to get another in but it is getting them to come.

“I was hoping we could just get through Saturday’s game so that I could address the situation this week.

“Nine times out of ten you get away with it so it is typical something like that happens when you are struggling.

“Brian won’t be able to play next Saturday so we will have to get two goalkeepers in this week and we definitely need one before Tuesday.”

Jensen spent four hours in the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead on Saturday getting his hand treated by a specialist and will have a further scan at the end of this week.

Speaking to the Crawley Town website, he said: “Hopefully on Thursday and Friday I can do some work with the keeper the Gaffer is going to bring in and I will be at Rochdale on Saturday whatever happens – I might even stand with the fans again."
