He is a fan of rapper 50 Cent but it is his 50th goal for Scunthorpe that he will be after at Withdean today.

Can Albion repel the hottest shot in the division, Billy Sharp?

Boss Dean Wilkins accepts it will be the toughest test yet for a defence which has been in mean mood of late.

The Seagulls have kept five clean sheets in their last ten League One outings and conceded more than one goal only once over the same period.

Those impressive statistics are under threat from Sharp, who scored his 23rd league goal of the campaign and 25th in all competitions in last Saturday's 1-1 home draw against promotion rivals Nottingham Forest.

Wilkins said: "He is the top scorer in our league, so every manager in our league would like to have him in the form he is in.

"He shows an awareness and anticipation to be in the right place at the right time more often that not.

"He is not the biggest but he manages to score headers as well, which shows that his movement is good, and he has pace."

Sharp slotted Scunthorpe's equaliser in their 2-1 home defeat by Albion back in October.

The odds must be on him striking again, since the Seagulls have consistently struggled to contain the leading marksmen in League One.

As our chart shows, seven of the top ten scorers have found the net against Albion, while the other three have not had the chance due to injuries.

Kerry Mayo is hoping for a repeat of the shut-out the Seagulls managed in a 0-0 draw on Scunthorpe's last visit to Withdean in October 2000.

Albion's long-serving leftback is looking forward to a reunion with Andy Crosby, a team-mate that season in the title triumph under Micky Adams.

"He has done really well since he has been at Scunthorpe and he is the captain now," Mayo said. "Maybe I will have a drink with him after the game but on good terms because we have won.

"It will be a great test. We haven't had a home game for three weeks, so hopefully the fans will come out and create a good atmosphere.

"Four or five weeks ago we were knocking on the door of relegation and, being honest, you could feel the pressure.

"It wasn't nice but we all stuck together and we have gone on a very good run.

"We are not conceding too many goals, which is fantastic."

Mayo was in the Albion side which upset the formbook at Glanford Park five months ago with a 2-1 victory.

He said: "At the time they were on a very good run and we were on a terrible run (five straight defeats). For me that was the turning point of our season.

"The week before they had beaten Forest 4-0 at the City Ground and there are not many teams that go to Forest and turn them over in style."

Who was one of the goalscorers by the banks of the River Trent that day? You've guessed it, Billy Sharp.
