Alex Revell today targeted a flying end to his debut season after regaining the form which made him such a success before Christmas.

Revell set up two goals and was highly impressive as Albion surely confirmed League One survival by winning at Northampton on Saturday.

He also fired in the shot from which Jake Robinson should have added a third Albion goal.

It was clearly Revell's best performance since returning to the side a month ago after injury and he was delighted.

He said: "I haven't been anywhere near where I want to be recently.

"People know me. If I'm not playing well I get disappointed.

"Hopefully this is the start of the old Alex Revell again, like before Christmas.

"That's what I want to be and if I can produce that now until the end of the season it will have been a great season for me."

Savage has scored Albion's last five goals and is their only player to have netted since Nick Ward's winner against Forest, seven games and 38 days ago.

When Doncaster visit on Saturday, it will be six weeks since any player other than Savage scored for the Seagulls.

But Revell has laid on the last three goals, including the point-saver against Scunthorpe.

He said: "The main thing we wanted to do was get goals.

"You come to watch football to see people score and we hadn't done that "Me and Bas had been disappointed but we've worked hard and it paid off.

"They always say hard work pays off and that's what we've done.

"It would have been nice for me to have got a goal.

"But the main thing is we won and scored two.

"In the second half we were immense and we can build on that now."

Revell was spot-on when he said the main ingredient Albion were missing was goals.

You can throw around all sorts of statistics about the Seagulls' defensive record.

You can calculate that they have conceded one goal every 131 minutes while defensive midfielder Alexis Bertin has been playing in front of the back four.

Or that Joel Lynch was absent on the two most recent occasions they let in more than one in a League match.

But turning their better periods into goals was the main problem.

Manager Dean Wilkins said: "We've looked like we've been on top but not managed to score.

"Once the first goal went in (at Northampton) you could sense there was a huge sigh of relief. Confidence grew throughout the side."

Albion would no doubt prefer other players to be finding the net as well.

But Savage's feat in scoring five successive Albion goals means he is closing in on marks set by the Seagulls' two most prolific hitmen of recent seasons.

Bobby Zamora hit six in a row during the 2001/02 Division Two title-winning season.

He grabbed the second in a 2-2 draw at Notts County, then netted in back-to-back 1-0 wins over Colchester, Bristol City and Port Vale.

He followed with the penalty which secured a 1-1 draw with Peterborough and the goal in a 1-1 draw with Swindon.

Paul Brooker ended the series with the opener in a 2-0 win over Bury but Zamora scored the second and the opener at home to Chesterfield in the next game, giving him eight goals out of nine scored by the Seagulls in that time.

Leon Knight went one better with seven successive Albion goals in the play-off season three years ago.

He hit the last two in a 3-0 defeat of Grimsby after Zesh Rehman opened the scoring.

Albion failed to score in the next three matches but Knight got the Mark McGhee era up and running with both in the 2-2 draw at Peterborough.

He converted a penalty in 4-1 home defeat to Bristol City, then completed the seven with two lovely firsthalf finishes at Notts County in a 2-1 win which gave McGhee his first victory as Albion manager.

Jake Robinson scored four in a row earlier this season, his strike at home to Northampton being followed by the hat-trick at Huddersfield.
