Nathan Jones could be poised to link up with his former boss - as manager of Plymouth Argyle.

The Albion and former Yeovil Town coach was thought to be one of six candidates interviewed over the weekend as the League Two club look to replace John Sheridan.

Jones previously worked under current Plymouth chief executive Martyn Starnes at Yeovil.

Starnes highlighted the “excellent relationship” he had with Jones when he awarded him a two-year deal as coach in 2011 and again when the Welshman departed on good terms to join Charlton.

Jones has enjoyed a senior coaching role with the Seagulls for the last two seasons and earned praise for his work as caretaker manager after Sami Hyypia resigned last December.

He is ambitious to progress in coaching and management and worked with England under-21s last week.

Jones, who cryptically tweeted “Everything is God’s will #faith” on Sunday afternoon, faces competition from candidates including former Ross County boss Derek Adams and Southend coach Graham Coughlan.

Argyle are expected to make a decision in the next couple of days.
