Bobby Zamora rejected offers from abroad to rejoin Albion.
The re-signed striker was linked with a lucrative move to India but held out for a return to the Seagulls.
Zamora said: "I was holding out for it, I wanted to come back and everything just fell in place.
"I had a few offers from abroad but I turned those down and now I'm happy to be back at Brighton where it all started.
"I just hope I do myself justice. There is going to be quite a lot of pressure and the fans are going to be expecting a lot, but they can rest assured I will be doing my best."
He added: "I've spoken to Chris Hughton and he said we've been in almost every game, and only lost by one goal in the majority of games we lost last season.
"Hopefully I can make a difference and score one or two goals and get Brighton to where they should be. Promotion is the goal and I'm looking forward to the new season."
