Michel Kuipers is back in goal for Albion's last game of the season at Cheltenham.

On-loan Scott Flinders has returned to Crystal Palace, clearing the way for Kuipers to make his first appearance since suffering a groin injury against Nottingham Forest at Withdean in February.

Flinders has gone back by mutual consent after impressing in a dozen appearances for the Seagulls.

Albion boss Dean Wilkins revealed: "I think they are thinking about playing him on Sunday (at Colchester) and we were thinking about playing Michel anyway."

Australian Nick Ward, on loan from QPR since January, has also gone back as he is ruled out of the Cheltenham game by ankle trouble.

Kerry Mayo is sidelined by a shin injury sustained in the reserves on Thursday, while Joel Lynch is still not well enough to feature after missing the last three matches with glandular fever.

Albion's lowest finish for six years is already guaranteed.

They will end up anywhere between 17th and 20th in League One and Wilkins' assistant Dean White has admitted there is a lot of work to be done to turn things around next season.

He said: "It has been a difficult season with the changes in personell and lots of ups and downs, a season of rebuilding more than anything else, trying to maintain our status in this League and then pushing on with a lot of young players.

"Hopefully next year they will all be better equipped. We certainly need more experience.

"Obviously, the players that we have got are going to be more experienced next year but we need to strengthen both physically and experience wise in certain areas of the pitch.

"That is something we are looking to do in the summer.

"We have got to look to bring new players in to freshen it up and make us a different proposition next year."
