Adam Chicksen is back with Albion after a month on loan with Leyton Orient.

The left-back made six appearances for the League Two side during his stint at Brisbane Road.

Reports from East London earlier today suggested Orient decided not to extend his stay but Albion boss Chris Hughton says it is more a case of wanting Chicksen back as extra cover, with Gaetan Bong (thigh) a long-term injury victim.

Hughton told The Argus: "We evaluated it again with the conversations we had with the lad and felt perhaps it was a good time to bring him back.

"The initial reason for going was to play games. That he did. He's had a month of games. He's got a good fitness level anyway. It's cover, he's a good trainer. It just gives us that extra cover that we need."

Chicksen has not played in Albion's first team since Hughton's opening FA Cup win at Brentford in January.

The 24-year-old former MK Dons defender was loaned out by Albion to Gillingham and Fleetwood last season.

Chicksen is likely to remain with the Seagulls now until at least the end of the year. Regulations would prevent him being recalled in the first 28 days if he was loaned out again before the window shuts on November 25.
