Gordon Greer celebrated his 200th league start for Albion by leading them to a draw at Burnley after expecting not to play.
The skipper, sidelined for five weeks by knee trouble, only knew he was back in the side hours before kick-off when German centre-half Uwe Huenemeier was ruled out by a minor ankle injury.
Greer revealed to The Argus: “I didn’t think I was playing. I didn’t find out until the meeting a couple of hours before the game. I was delighted to get the chance because it’s not great when you’re watching the team and it was a good 90 minutes.
“Fitness wise it was great for me. I was tired at the end and had a dead leg but that’s what the Championship is all about and you miss it.”
