Albion boss Chris Hughton has hailed his team's latest display of resilience away from the Amex.

They held leaders Hull to a 0-0 draw at the KC Stadium tonight.

Rotherham are still the only side to have beaten the Seagulls on their Championship travels.

Hughton felt they were worth a point against Steve Bruce's table-toppers in a tight contest of few chances.

He told The Argus: "They are very much at full strength at the moment and were on the back of a really impressive performance at Blackburn (won 2-0).

"Generally, at any stage of the season against them, it's a good draw but in particular today.

"On the balance of play, if you look at chances, they've hit the crossbar right at the end but, apart from that I cannot think of a really good opportunity they had in the 90 minutes.

"Neither did we but we are playing away. Taking that into consideration, I think we deserved it."

Hughton bolstered his midfield by starting with Steve Sidwell and deputising left-back Inigo Calderon also helped Albion to an accomplished clean sheet.

"We played a different system," Hughton said. "I was pleased with Calderon and Sidwell, neither of whom have played 90 minutes for a while.

"The two centre-halves (Lewis Dunk and Connor Goldson) were very good, they had to be. It was a good, all-round team performance."

Bruce said: "When I saw Chris's interview yesterday and he mentioned about staying in the game I thought he might go with just one striker.

"When a team does that, and we have seen that so often over the last six months here, you need to take care of the ball better than we did.

"We just got a bit nervous and edgy with the ball. Fair play to Brighton. They worked very hard and frustrated the life out of us. If anyone was going to win it, it was going to be us but it wasn't to be."

James Wilson missed out again with a groin injury but Hughton hopes to have the on-loan Manchester United striker available for Saturday's game at Cardiff (12.30).
