Jamie Murphy has revealed how he kept it simple to complete his first two-goal haul for Albion.
The Scottish winger netted twice in the 4-0 League Cup win over Colchester.
He produced a neat flick for his first and then a run at the heart of the tiring defence to complete the tally.
Sam Baldock and Elvis Manu were also on target while Kazenga LuaLua dazzled, setting up goals for both Baldock and Murphy in the last half-hour.
Murphy said: “My first was a great pass (by LuaLua), perfect, right on my foot in the box.
“I managed to get that one and the second was a case of ‘just run’.
“One of my old managers used to tell me that – Nigel Clough at Sheffield United. He used to say ‘Just run’ and I remembered that.”
Albion made 11 changes from the side which started at Derby and Murphy felt it was a thoroughly worthwhile exercise.
He said: “It was a good work out and good to get 90 minutes under everyone’s belt.
“It’s a good squad and everyone is competing for places.
"It was a good performance – and nice to see some of the young ones do well."
