Chris Hughton was impressed by his Albion side as they beat Wolves – and delighted for goalkeeper David Stockdale.

The Seagulls held on for a 1-0 win after Sam Baldock headed them into a 14th-minute lead.

Stockdale was shaky in the 2-2 draw against Preston on Saturday but secured the win with two fine late saves tonight.

The Argus:

Albion boss Hughton said: “I thought he made two very good saves and that is what you need from a goalkeeper when he perhaps hasn’t had too much to do.

“They are the moments when a goalkeeper shows his value.”

A late leveller as Wolves piled players forward would have been harsh on the Seagulls.

Hughton added: “I thought we were good value for the win but we were up against a very good Wolves side and they are going to threaten. It was tight at the end.”

Albion will assess Bruno tomorrow after he limped off near the end while Lewis Dunk will definitely miss Saturday’s trip to Wigan after a late yellow card, his fifth of the season.
