Tomer Hemed has won a monthly award – as he hopes to retain his starting spot with Albion.

Hemed clinched the PFA fans' Championship player of the month accolade for February.

The striker, who scored five goals in five games, collected 8,390 votes in a poll run by Sky Sports.

That put him well clear of second-placed Tom Cairney as the Fulham playmaker polled 5,412 votes. Then came Preston winger Aiden McGeady with 2,658.

Hemed opened the month with a coolly taken equaliser in the 3-1 defeat at Huddersfield.

He headed the very late leveller at Brentford and was twice on target next time out at home to Burton.

A point-saving penalty at home to Ipswich rounded off his month in terms of goals.

Hemed returned to the starting line-up in the 2-0 win at Rotherham on Tuesday and hopes to continue when Derby visit the Amex tomorrow.
