Albion goalkeeper Christian Walton is set to challenge for the play-offs today after his latest loan extension with Southend was confirmed.
Walton faces Bury, with whom he had a brief loan stint last term, at Roots Hall on the final day of the League One season.
Southend must better Millwall’s result at Bristol Rovers if they are to grab the last play-off place.
In line with EFL rules, Southend were independently certified as having no professional goalkeepers fit to play recently and must renew the loan on a week-by-week basis.
In practice, there is no immediate prospect of their own goalkeepers regaining fitness and Walton is there for as long their season continues.
The Shrimpers would play Bolton or Fleetwood in the play-off semis.
