ALBION are optimistic they can fend off interest from Brendan Rodgers in a reunion with transfer target Joe Gomez.
The Seagulls face competition from Celtic chief Rodgers in their bid to borrow versatile defender Gomez, 20, from Liverpool.
Rodgers was Liverpool manager when the Merseyside giants bought the Londoner from Charlton two years ago.
Celtic can offer Champions League football, but the Scottish Premier League is well below the week in, week out standard of the Premier League.
Rodgers’ Anfield successor Jurgen Klopp is also a fan of Gomez, who made FA Cup appearances under the German this season following 15 months out with knee damage.
Bournemouth have been linked as well with Gomez, pictured.
Meanwhile, the Amex remains the likeliest destination for Valencia goalkeeper Maty Ryan, despite interest from other top flight clubs in Europe in the Australia No.1.
