Chris Eubank Jr's dream of fighting at the Amex could still become a reality - but not until next summer.
World Boxing Super Series organisers had considered an outdoor venue – with football stadiums top of the list – for his Battle of Britain clash with George Groves but have instead opted for the Manchester Arena on February 17 next year.
Promoter Kalle Sauerland confirmed they sounded out Albion over the possibility of staging the Groves clash there before deciding to go indoors.
But he has not closed the door on a potential final in the summer at the Seagulls’ home should Brighton’s IBO champion defeat WBA champion Groves.
He told The Argus: "It depends on the outcome of the semi-final but if Eubank Jr was successful then, of course, we would look at Brighton, we'd be fools not to.
"It's a great football club with very good owners and we'd love to work with them."
