Glenn Murray made a bit of history tonight – with the first VAR-approved goal in English football.
The Albion substitute forced the ball home from close range after Solly March’s flighted free-kick had been headed across goal by Uwe Huenemeier.
Palace appealed for handball – and fans waited for the strike to be checked on a pitchside screen by Andre Marriner.
But the teams returned to halfway and play restarted with no undue interruption.

The 87th-minute goal secured the Seagulls’ 2-1 win over Crystal Palace in the third round of the FA Cup and set up a trip to Middlesbrough at the next stage.
Video ref Neil Swarbrick checked the incident on screen from his base near Heathrow for both offside and handball.
He then made it clear to Marriner back at the Amex that there was no need to review the incident.
Murray later confirmed he did not touch the ball in with his arm or hand.
The VAR test continues with Chelsea play Arsenal in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
