David Wiese scored the first Specsavers County Championship century of the season and Olly Stone bagged a career-best 8-80 as Warwickshire and Sussex drifted towards a draw on the final afternoon at Edgbaston.

In reply to the home side's 299, Sussex were bowled out for 374 with Wiese striking an accomplished 106 (105 balls, 14 fours, three sixes). Stone, having taken the first six wickets yesterday, added the last two today to finish with an eight-for on his home championship debut.

When Sussex resumed after lunch on 347-7, Wiese and Ben Brown took their stand to 155 in 30 overs. Brown (91, 174 balls, eight fours) then edged Keith Barker to give Tim Ambrose his sixth catch of the innings before Stone returned to trap Wiese lbw and bowl Ishant Sharma.

At tea, Warwickshire were 45-1 in the second innings, having lost Will Rhodes, whose off-stump was knocked out by Ollie Robinson.
