Albion last night remained keen to add Florin Andone to their strikeforce.

The Romanian international is available from relegated Spanish club Deportivo La Coruna for a knockdown fee.

Reports emerged early in the weekend that the Seagulls were about to snap up the frontman, who they wanted in January.

That interest has not cooled, despite the January capture of Jurgen Locadia for a record fee.

Andone did not travel to Valencia for Deportivo’s final match of the Spanish League campaign yesterday due to injury.

The Galician club are set to cash in one of their prized assets and have dropped his buyout clause from about £17.5 million to £5.3 million.

Andone, who would add pace to the Albion frontline, pledged his long-term commitment to Depor in January after scoring what appeared to be a crucial late equaliser at Villarreal.

But that result did not kick-start the expected survival push and their relegation was confirmed three weeks ago.

Albion have told back-up goalkeepers Tim Krul and Niki Maenpaa they would be interested in keeping them on next term in initial conversations.

Meanwhile Solly March will face no action for his single-fingered post-match gesture towards fans at Anfield which was captured on television.

The FA accepted an explanation that the gesture was meant as a joke towards friends in the crowd and that March apologised almost immediately via social media.
